Practice interviews
If you’ve been invited to any type of interview, you can ask for a Practice Interview. This role-play exercise will help you practice typical interview questions for the role you’ve applied for (including vacation schemes, training contracts, pupillages and roles outside of legal careers) and help you to work on your interview technique.
You’ll receive feedback on your performance during the session and have chance to address any other concerns you have about the interview process. We aim to make practice interviews as similar to the real thing as possible, so you must have a real interview invite before booking.

Stephen Gurman hosts a number of workshops covering career options with your degree, how the recruitment process works, experience and skills required, what recruiters look for and how you can best positions yourself to make an outstanding application.
Pro bono opportunities
You can take part in pro bono opportunities co-ordinated by the UCL Centre for Access to Justice. This will develop key skills which you can put into practice in your future career. Through volunteering, you can gain an awareness of social justice issues, explore new areas of law, and make a valuable contribution to the local community.

Careers events
The annual UCL Laws Careers Fair is an excellent opportunity to meet with employers and law firms before submitting applications for internships or training positions. Students can also attend events and talks hosted by UCL Careers, designed to develop employability skills and explore different sectors.
The UCL Centre for Access to Justice co-ordinates a number of events to introduce students to careers in social justice or public interest related fields.
The UCL Law Society also runs a series of careers and networking events, giving you plenty of opportunities to make new connections and build valuable relationships for the future.
Our alumni go on to work in a range of specialist areas and industries, including outside of law. The latest survey data* reveals:

- 65.3% were in graduate-level employment
- 18.2% were in higher study
- 4.8% were in other work or other study
- Of those whose main activity was work, 9.1% were running their own business, or were self-employed/freelancing
