Pérez Presents at Conference on Human Rights and the Rule of Law
Edward Pérez presents at conference organised by the Centre for European Law and Internationalisation, and the Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law.

On Friday, 7 November, GCDC PhD student member Edward Pérez presented at the conference ‘Guarding Human Rights and the Rule of Law, and Facilitating Constitutional Resilience: The ECHR at 75 and the Venice Commission at 35’. The event was organised by the Centre for European Law and Internationalisation at the University of Leicester, along with the Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law. It examined the role of the ECHR and the Venice Commission in promoting human rights and the rule of law, and considered how multi-layered human rights protection may promote constitutional resilience in the UK and across Europe.
Pérez presented on ‘Structural Remedies as Safeguards for Democracy: What Can We Learn from the Inter-American Court of Human Rights?’ The conference also saw GCDC member Professor Colm O’Cinneide present on ‘The Past, Present and Possible Futures of Multilayered Rights Protection in the UK’.
