Dimitrios Kyriazis is a tutor and doctoral researcher in law at the University of Oxford, a Clarendon and Onassis scholar, and a teaching fellow in EU Competition Law at UCL. His research focuses on the interaction between EU state aid rules and national tax measures, exploring, in particular, the extent to which EU state aid policy can serve as a tool against harmful tax competition between Member States. In this context, emphasis is placed on the recent Commission investigations into multinationals’ tax arrangements.
Dimitrios obtained his LL.B. (Distinction) at the University of Athens, graduating top of his class. He also holds an MJur (Distinction) from the University of Oxford, graduating top of his class (Clifford Chance Prize), with the support of an Onassis Foundation scholarship. He completed his MPhil in Law (Distinction) as a Light Senior Scholar at St Catherine’s College. He has been a guest lecturer at Leiden University and Queen Mary University of London, has taught on the BCL/MJur and has previously practiced law in Brussels and Athens, primarily working on state aid, M&A, competition and banking law. Dimitrios is also a convenor of Oxford’s EU Law Discussion Group.
