GCDC Postdoctoral Research Fellow Dr Natalia Morales-Cerda presented her research-in-progress at the Fail Again Symposium, held at Queen’s University Belfast on 21 May 2026. Her paper, ‘Separating the Wheat from the Chaff: Disaggregating Failure in Constitution Making’, was featured in the panel ‘Unsettling Failure’, which explored diverse understandings of failure across law, politics, and society.
The symposium brought together scholars from a range of institutions to examine the political, legal, and affective dimensions of failure and to foster interdisciplinary dialogue on emerging research agendas. Dr Morales-Cerda’s contribution examined how failure is conceptualised and assessed in constitution-making processes, offering a framework for distinguishing between different forms and experiences of constitutional failure.
