Dr Franziska Arnold-Dwyer has contributed to the development of the Principles of Reinsurance Contract Law (PRICL), a comprehensive framework that provides the global reinsurance markets with a uniform, transparent and balanced opt-in codification of commonly accepted business practices in international reinsurance.
As rapporteur and member of the drafting committee for the past four years, Dr Arnold-Dwyer has helped develop principles that bring clarity and consistency to international reinsurance practices.
Led by Professor Helmut Heiss and Professor Manfred Wandt, the nine-year PRICL project has been supported by UNIDROIT (International Institute for the Unification of Private Law) and received support and advice from a wide range of insurance and reinsurance market practitioners as well as from leading reinsurance law scholars from across the world.
The PRICL will officially launch on 3 November 2025 at Lloyd’s of London with contributions from distinguished academics, representatives of Lloyd’s Market Association, and the international (re)insurance industry.
Dr Arnold-Dwyer's latest book, MacGillivray on Insurance Law (16th edition, with co-editors/co-authors Professor John Birds, Ben Lynch and Simon Paul), has just been published.
