UCL Laws facilitates applications by students affected by visa and travel policy changes
3 June 2025
At UCL Laws, we believe that outstanding legal minds from around the world should be able to access world-leading higher education. We have extended limited recruitment into our competitive postgraduate programmes for 25/26 entry, with rapid review for top offer-holders.

In light of unexpected changes in national migration and student visa policies, which have led to some international students being concerned about their immediate academic futures, we invite students facing such challenges while holding confirmed offers from top law schools outside the UK to submit a streamlined application for rapid consideration at UCL Laws.
A limited number of places remain available on our postgraduate Master of Laws (LLM) and MSc Law and Finance programmes. To be eligible to apply to us using a streamlined application, applicants must hold an offer from a top 25 US law school (as ranked by US News & World Report or the ATL Rankings). Students from non-legal backgrounds who are interested in the MSc Law and Finance, holding a non-law offer from a US school, should contact us directly to confirm eligibility. Students holding an offer from a top-100 QS World University Ranking law school and facing challenges related to visa or travel policies preventing them from taking up the offer at that institution can also use this pathway.
Applicants holding these offers should apply through the usual process detailed on our site, but may submit the same materials used in their application to the institution they hold the offer from (e.g., personal statement, academic transcripts). No additional tailoring for UCL Laws is required. Reference letters and statements can refer to other universities and programmes, and this will not negatively affect your application, and the writing sample can differ from our prescribed requirements in length and focus. A copy of the current offer letter from the relevant institution should also be uploaded, and we will consider this offer as part of your application.
Offers will be made subject to programme availability and entry requirements (see LLM Law, MSc Law and Finance) being met. For applicants requiring a visa, the deadline to submit a formal application is 27 June 2025. For those who do not require a visa, the final deadline is 29 August 2025.
If you plan to submit using this route, please email our special address for this purpose at laws-pg-2025-context@ucl.ac.uk to flag your application. Our dedicated team can also advise you if you have any questions, such as on the materials you need to provide to us.
We recognise that students are navigating an uncertain and evolving global landscape, and we are committed to offering a clear and supportive path into graduate study at UCL Laws.
