30 September 2024

UCL Laws has moved up one place from last year to first place in the recently published Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide.

The text reads: 1st for studying law in the UK. UCL is ranked 1st for law in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025. There are two students sitting on a sofa and talking.

We are delighted to share that this year’s Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide has ranked UCL as no. 1 for studying law in the UK.

The result reflects UCL Laws’ consistently strong performance in national and international league tables, and demonstrates our commitment to continually enhancing the teaching and learning experience for students of all backgrounds, alongside fostering a world-leading research culture, building the best knowledge about law and legal systems around the world.

The Good University Guide measures key indicators including entry standards, graduate prospects, student satisfaction and research quality.

Professor Eloise Scotford (Dean of UCL Laws) commented:

“I am thrilled that UCL Laws has been recognised as the top law school in the UK. Alongside our outstanding and inclusive educational experience, we are proud to be a Faculty where our research is of the highest quality and makes considerable impact in society, locally and globally. All our academic endeavour – across teaching and research – is underpinned by uncompromising academic standards and an ethos that all students can excel given the opportunity. United by that collective commitment to excellence, our exceptional students, world-class academic colleagues, dedicated Professional Services staff, and esteemed alumni have all been integral to this success.

“This news comes at an exciting time for our Faculty, as we have recently launched a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary MSc Law and Finance programme with the Department of Economics and UCL School of Management; and as we prepare to celebrate UCL’s 200th Anniversary in 2026.”
