Prof Steven Vaughan

Professor Steven Vaughan (Professor of Law and Professional Ethics and Vice-Dean (Staffing) at UCL Laws) has been appointed as a Lay Member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), along with Dr Rebekah Eglinton and Professor Valerie Webster.

The HCPC’s main role is to protect the public and uphold confidence in the 15 different professions which are regulated by the Council. The HCPC sets standards for professionals' education and training; keeps a register of professionals who meet their standards; and approves programmes which professionals must complete in order to register.

Professor Vaughan commented: "I am excited about taking on this important role and working with the HCPC and its stakeholders at a time of significant challenges and possible changes to health and care professionals and their regulation."
