Dr Tom Hickman QC, Reader in Public Law at UCL Laws, has delivered a speech to the incoming UCL Laws LLM students at today’s LLM induction event in Senate House, following the Supreme Court’s ruling that the prorogation of Parliament was unlawful.
Dr Hickman is part of the legal team who successfully represented campaigner Gina Miller in the challenge to the PM’s decision to suspend Parliament. During his talk to the new LLM students, Dr Hickman reflected on the Court’s judgement.
Dr Hickman was also part of Gina Miller’s legal team in 2016-17 when she brought a legal case that forced parliament to legislate before Article 50 could be invoked.
