Student induction 2017

UCL Faculty of Laws is delighted to announce the launch of a brand new series of scholarships for incoming LLM (Master of Laws) students for the 2019/20 academic year.

The Faculty has established a variety of scholarships to increase access for UK based students and those with outstanding academic achievements. They will provide life changing opportunities for those who have grown up with financial hardship and also those who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement.

Professor Piet Eeckhout, Dean of UCL Laws said:

‘It is my great pleasure to be announcing the new UCL Faculty of Laws scholarships series.

The scholarships demonstrate the Faculty’s deep commitment to our fantastic student body in addition to UCL’s founding ethos of fairness and equality, regardless of background.

We pride ourselves on the collaborative and welcoming atmosphere of UCL Laws, and I am delighted that we have this opportunity to encourage and support applications from those who would otherwise not be able to join our outstanding community of students, academics and alumni’.

The scholarships will fall into three categories:

UCL Laws - Dean’s Scholarships: at least 6 awards which are designed to make our LLM accessible to UK-domiciled students who have been and are of limited means.

These means-tested scholarships provide full fees and £15,000 a year maintenance. Students applying for the means-tested scholarships must meet the standard UCL Laws entry requirements.

UCL Laws - Future Scholars: at least 2 awards which are designed to increase the accessibility of our LLM to UK-domiciled individuals who have been and are of limited means and who intend to use their LLM as a gateway to doctoral studies.

These means-tested awards provide the successful candidate with full fees and maintenance. Students applying for the means-tested scholarships must meet the standard UCL Laws entry requirements.

UCL Laws - Academic Excellence Scholarships: at least 5 awards designed to support individuals with outstanding academic achievements to study UCL’s LLM. These scholarships shall comprise a £10,000 fee reduction and are not means tested.

Applications for scholarships will open in late October 2018. All scholarships can only be applied for once an application to the LLM has been made and an offer from UCL Faculty of Laws has been made.
