Dr Ronan McCrea discusses Brexit negotiations in The Irish Times
31 July 2018
The article discusses the constraints on negotiations from the EU’s strength and weakness.

Dr Ronan McCrea, Senior Lecturer in Law at UCL Faculty of Laws, argues in the Irish Times that the UK government appears still not to understand the constraints on Brexit negotiations that come from the EU's strength and its weakness.
Dr Ronan McCrea goes on to say that the Union is economically much larger than the UK and so is in the stronger position but it is also internally weak and cannot afford to allow the UK to cherry pick elements of the Single Market in case other states then seek the same. Unless the UK government adjusts to these realities, a no deal Brexit cannot be ruled out.
