UCL Laws LLB students Nathan Daniel Sekhar and Bharat Punjabi excel in Inter-Varsity Moot
29 January 2018
UCL Laws congratulates Nathan Daniel Sekhar and Bharat Punjabi, LLB students, who reached the Quarter-Finals of the Inner Temple Inter-Varsity Mooting Competition 2018 on Sunday 21 January 2018.
The Inter-Varsity Moot is a long-standing annual competition held at the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple. 28 teams from across the United Kingdom participated this year in fierce competition on a property law problem. Nathan and Bharat were ranked as part of the top eight teams in the competition.
Nathan said:
'Having to prepare both sides of the case in a week and going head on against many aspiring barristers from across the country was a challenging but fruitful experience. It has always been an honour to represent the University at moot competitions.'
Bharat added:
'As a budding second year student, it was a great honour to have the opportunity to represent UCL while practising advocacy in the beautiful surroundings of one of the country's oldest legal institutions. It was surely intimidating going up against opponents that were much more experienced and learned, but I’m glad to have progressed this far nonetheless.'
The team also thanks Mr Krystof Turek, Teaching Fellow at UCL Faculty of Laws, who accompanied the UCL team as a judge.
