Sir Robin Jacob appointed judge to first commercial court in Kazakhstan

Sir Robin Jacob, Sir Hugh Laddie Chair of Intellectual Property Law at UCL Faculty of Laws, has been appointed as one of the UK judges to the new Astana International Financial Centre court in Kazakhstan.

Former Lord Chief justice Lord Woolf, UCL Laws alumnus, has been appointed the chief justice of the court.

Sir Robin said:

‘Kazakhstan is setting out to create a major Eurasian commercial centre. Such a centre needs good laws and trusted judges and I am very pleased to join.’
