Professor Richard Moorhead appointed specialist adviser to the Women and Equalities Select Committee

21 December 2018

Richard Moorhead

Professor Richard Moorhead, Chair of Law and Professional Ethics at UCL Laws, has been appointed as one of two specialist advisers to the newly launched Non Disclosure Agreement Select Committee following his recent work on NDAs.

Following its recent inquiry into sexual harassment in the workplace, which recommended that the Government should clean up the use of NDAs in sexual harassment cases, the  Women and Equalities Select Committee has launched a new inquiry to look at the wider use of NDAs in cases where any form of harassment or other discrimination is alleged. This might include, for example, pregnancy or maternity discrimination or racist abuse.

Richard Moorhead said:

'The Select Committee has already shone a light on how lawyers use, and sometimes abuse, NDAs. This second inquiry is a signal to the profession that the ethical and regulatory issues around NDAs are not going away'.
