Dr John Sorabji speaks at Tromsø workshop on Civil Procedure inside and outside the EU

Dr John Sorabji, Judicial Institute Fellow at UCL Faculty of Laws and convenor of the Principles of Civil Justice and Alternative Dispute Resolution LLM courses, discussed developments in European civil procedure at an international workshop organized by the Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø organized by Professors Anna Nylund and Magne Strandberg on 31 August to 2 September 2017.

At the workshop, Dr Sorabji gave the opening paper which concerned the joint project being carried out by the European Law Institute and UNIDROIT, which is developing model European Rules of Civil Procedure. Dr Sorabji’s paper highlighted the importance of procedural convergence across Europe, both for EU and non-EU and non-EFTA countries, and what future steps might need to be taken to develop a pan-European civil procedural culture. It is anticipated that the results of the workshop will be published at a later date.
