Professor Dame Hazel Genn is guest of honour at UCL Laws Alumni Murder Mystery Dinner

3 July 2017

Professor Dame Hazel Genn, Dean of UCL Faculty of Laws, was the guest of honour at UCL Laws Alumni Murder Mystery Dinner held at the exclusive Sports Club in Central Hong Kong on Friday 16 June

The evening was filled with great entertainment with the theatre performance delivered by the murder mystery cast, which brought the guests to a “murder scene” at a nightclub in Havana, Cuba back in 1958. All guests were given clues during the night to try and figure out which suspect committed ‘the crime’.

Professor Genn said:

‘It’s always a pleasure to visit our UCL Laws Alumni in Hong Kong. They are such valued friends to the Faculty and I’m grateful for their continued support. Attending events like this and spending time with our alumni is very important to keep strengthening our global community.’

Charles Lam, UCL Laws LLB Alumnus, said:

‘This event provided the opportunity for the UCL Laws Alumni in Hong Kong to show their greatest appreciation to Professor Dame Hazel Genn, who will be stepping down as the Dean of UCL Laws this summer, on her significant contributions and achievements during her deanship. Professor Dame Hazel Genn also provided an update on the redevelopment of Bentham House during her address.’

This event could not have been possible without the continued support of the UCL Hong Kong Club and its president Andrew Ng, UCL Laws LLB Alumnus. Voon Keat Lai, Managing Partner of Stephenson Harwood (Greater China), chaired the dinner organising committee, Vincent Cheung, UCL Laws LLB Alumnus, and Winston Chu, UCL Laws LLB Alumnus, sponsored the wines for the dinners and the murder mystery theatre show respectively.
