14 December 2017

Moot Max and Joseph

UCL Faculty of Laws congratulates Joseph Mahon, LLM student in Public Law, and Maxwell Cope, LLM student in Criminal Justice, Family and Social Welfare, on winning the Leicester University/ 1 Crown Office Row Medical Law Moot on Saturday 2 December 2017.

As the National Medical Law Moot, there were 22 universities competing and some fiercely contested rounds en route to the final.

The question focused on medical negligence and damages in failed sterilisation cases.

The final was judged by a panel of five, amongst them two QCs, and Sir Nicholas Green, a High Court judge. They decided unanimously in favour of Joseph and Maxwell, who were awarded the prestigious Medical Moot trophy.

Maxwell said:

‘We are over the moon – this (almost) makes all those late nights reading cases worth it!’

Joseph and Maxwell hope to represent UCL Laws in more moots throughout the year.
