Biography
Michael Hopmeier is a Circuit Judge at Southwark Crown Court in London and serves as a Deemster (judge) in the Isle of Man. He has a distinguished background in criminal law, particularly in the area of proceeds of crime, confiscation, and money laundering.
He is the Editor of Millington and Sutherland Williams – Proceeds of Crime (6th Edition, Oxford University Press) and the Chapter on Money Laundering in Halsbury’s Laws of England. He is also the author of the Guide to Restraint and Confiscation, published by the Judicial College (forthcoming, January 2025).
Michael is an Honorary Visiting Professor of Law at City, University of London and regularly lectures and tutors at the Judicial College of England and Wales.
