Biography
Mark Anderson is a solicitor in private practice. Nearly 30 years ago, he started his own firm, which has grown to 18 lawyers. He and his colleagues are recommended in Chambers Directory for both Life Science Transactions and Intellectual Property (IP).
He is a main author or editor of six practitioner textbooks in the fields of IP and contract law (OUP, Bloomsbury, Law Society), as well as numerous peer-reviewed journal articles. He is a reviewer of proposed articles for a specialist IP journal. His blog on IP contracts, IP Draughts, has been viewed over one million times, and has won an American Bar Association award.
At UCL Laws, he teaches mostly practitioners, including on his week-long course on IP Transactions, which has run annually since 2013. The course has won a Provost’s Teaching Award and a Law Society Excellence Award (Highly Commended). He has been a guest lecturer at Harvard Law School and the London Business School.
Through his writing and teaching, he has helped to develop transactional IP as a discipline that is distinct from IP litigation or general contract law.
He has a law degree from the University of Durham, and is an accredited CEDR mediator, and a Certified Licensing Professional.
He is a member of the Council of the Law Society of England and Wales, and a former chair of its IP Law Committee.
