Get involved
The GCDC offers a range of research fellowships and PhD studentships, as well as internal and public-facing events.
Academic Visitors
The GCDC hosts visiting scholars from around the globe, offering opportunities to connect with a research community, present current work, and form new collaborations. Guidance on the application and appointment process is available on the Academic Visitor page.
Postdoctoral Research Fellowships
Postdoctoral Research Fellows play a key role in supporting the Centre’s activities and contributing to high-quality outputs through the conduct of both independent and collaborative research with other Centre members. They also have significant academic freedom to develop their own independent research profile and agenda.
We have recently completed our first recruitment round. We are likely to advertise for the next cohort of Postdoctoral Research Fellows in spring 2026.
PhD Studentships
PhD students play a substantial role in the Centre’s intellectual life, while also having appropriate autonomy and support for determining the focus of their own research while at UCL Laws. We are eager to receive applications from candidates interested in advancing scholarship within our focus areas.
The Centre is currently offering fully funded PhD studentships for study at UCL Laws. These studentships cover the cost of tuition fees, plus a maintenance stipend per annum for full-time study. The annual stipend for 2025-26 (as a guide) is £22,780. Costs are pro-rated for part-time students.
Interested candidates should apply via the standard UCL Laws PhD application process. Applications for the 2026/27 academic year are open from 1 September 2025 until 18 November 2025, 5.00 pm. We will consider all applications that align with the focus areas of the Centre, but we also recommend that interested candidates indicate their interest in the studentships within their application. For more information on PhD studies at UCL Laws and how to apply, visit the PhD study page. Enquires about the studentships may be directed to gcdc@ucl.ac.uk.
