The Mishcon Lectures were established at UCL in 1990 by Lord Mishcons children to mark his 75th birthday and in recognition of his achievements and service in the fields of law, education, religion, government and politics, both central and local.
The lecture was introduced by Vice-Dean of UCL Laws, Professor Piet Eeckhout.
About the speaker
Jonathan Freedland is an award-winning journalist, author and broadcaster. He has been a weekly columnist for the Guardian since 1997 and is the presenter of BBC Radio 4’s contemporary history series, The Long View. He is also a regular contributor to a range of US publications, including The New York Review of Books. In 2014 he was awarded the Orwell Special Prize for journalism. He is the author of eight books, five of them best-selling thrillers under the name Sam Bourne. His first book, Bring Home the Revolution, was a reflection on US political culture and what Britain might learn from it.
