Dr David Vitale presents on his new book ‘Trust, Courts and Social Rights: A Trust-Based Framework for Social Rights Enforcement’.
21 November 2024

In this edition of the Public Law Seminar Series, Dr David Vitale (University of Warwick) presented on his new book Trust, Courts and Social Rights: A Trust-Based Framework for Social Rights Enforcement. The book proposes an innovative legal framework for judicially enforcing social rights that is rooted in public trust in government or ‘political trust’. Interdisciplinary in nature, the book draws on theoretical and empirical scholarship on the concept of trust across disciplines, including philosophy, sociology, psychology and political theory.
Following Dr Vitale’s presentation, Professor Colm O’Cinneide (UCL) and Professor Virginia Mantouvalou (UCL) offered their remarks, leading into further discussions and a question-and-answer session with participants at the seminar. The event was chaired by Professor Jeff King (UCL).
