Natalia Morales Cerda, Doctoral Student Member of the GCDC, was invited as an international expert by Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez and Universidad Austral (Chile) to present her doctoral research on women’s political participation and representation in the Chilean constitution-making process. Her presentation, which was a key highlight of the seminar, provided valuable insights into the role of women in shaping the ongoing constitutional transformation in Chile.
The seminar, titled ‘Chilean Constitutional Process and Gender Constitutionalism: Ongoing Project’, was held as part of the research project ‘Monitoring and Analysis of the Gender Dimensions of the Chilean Constitutional Process 2021-2022’, led by Professor Verónica Undurraga Valdés (Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, Chile), Professor Yanira Zúñiga Añazco (Universidad Austral de Chile), Dr Julieta Suárez-Cao (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile), and Professor Javier Sajuria (Queen Mary University of London).
The event, which took place on Thursday, January 9, featured contributions from a distinguished group of scholars, including Verónica Undurraga Valdés, Francisca Pou Giménez (National Autonomous University of Mexico, UNAM), Mariela Puga (National University of Córdoba, Argentina), and Yanira Zúñiga Añazco. The seminar offered a comprehensive platform for discussing the intersection of gender and constitutional law within the context of the Chilean constitutional process.
