Bio:

Tianqi Shi is currently working on online sexual assaults, with links to data regulation, privacy protection, digital ethics and technology. Specifically, some feminists believe that one of the key reasons for women’s oppression is their relegation to the private sphere of family, which is often the site of exploitation and violence against women. However, now, the blurring of public and private in cyberspace somewhat brings such incidents to light or, on the contrary, casts a shadow over them because of the “dark web”. Besides, due to the power of third-party organisations to intervene in privacy, the subject involved in the privacy debate will also expand from “individuals vs. public authorities” to “individuals vs. third-party organisations”. In this light, Tianqi’s work explores how to build a set of rules to maximise the protection of online users’ sexual privacy, which is an important part of our human rights in this digital era.
