A new UCL Laws workshop explored how linking legal advice with healthcare services can address poverty, improve patient outcomes, and strengthen community health across England.

Colleagues and students at UCL Laws have been recognised in the 2025 UCL Education Awards with several award wins and nominations.

On 7 February 2025, the MP for Stratford and Bow, Uma Kumaran, visited UCL iLAC to meet with Centre for Access to Justice staff, students, a client, and the Dean of UCL Laws, Professor Eloise Scotford, to discuss the importance of legal aid and access to legal advice. 

A team of UCL Faculty and student volunteers have produced a response to the Government Call for Evidence on Access to Justice in relation to the Aarhus Convention.

Thul Khan, Solicitor at the UCL Legal Advice Clinic, worked with UCL Laws alumnus Jeremy Ogilvie-Harris on the case.

The UCL Integrated Legal Advice Clinic (run by the UCL Centre for Access to Justice), law firm Clyde & Co and East London charity the Magpie Project have received an award for their service supporting families to complete applications for housing and welfare benefits.

A team of staff and students from the UCL Centre for Access to Justice have responded to the recent call for evidence as part of the Government Review into Civil Legal Aid, submitting evidence related to career development and diversity in the profession.

The partnership between UCL Integrated Legal Advice Clinic and Eversheds Sutherland, which offers pro bono assistance, has been shortlisted for ‘Best New Pro Bono Activity’ at this year's LawWorks Pro Bono Awards.

The Clinic won the Legal Aid Firm/Not for Profit Agency award at last night’s awards ceremony, which celebrates the vital work undertaken by legal aid lawyers.

The awards are hosted by the Legal Aid Practitioners Group (LAPG), and aims to recognise the vital work of social justice lawyers.

The Centre is encouraging people from UCL to join their team on Tuesday 28 June to help fund much-needed frontline free legal advice services.

On 3 November 2021, the UCL Centre for Access to Justice and Student Pro Bono Committee hosted Tribunal Judge Nicholas Easterman at Bentham House, where he conducted a bespoke Advocacy Masterclass session to UCL Laws students in attendance.
