30 October 2025
A new volume edited by GCDC member Isra Black, alongside Lisa Forsberg and Anthony Skelton, has just been published. The volume, titled Consenting Children: Autonomy, Responsibility, Well-Being (Liverpool University Press, 2025), brings together philosophers and academic lawyers to discuss matters relating to children’s autonomy, responsibility, and well-being. The discussions cover questions of children’s consent and responsibility, decision-making capacity, and best interests, as well as the role, powers, and duties of parents and state institutions.
In addition to being co-editor, Black contributed to two chapters in the volume: ‘Asymmetry of Adolescent Decision-Making Capacity and Rational Choice’ and ‘Treating Adolescents Differently’ (with Lisa Forsberg and Anthony Skelton).
The volume is part of the series – the Proceedings of the British Academy. It is available on Liverpool University Press.
