Why did you choose to study at UCL Laws?
I chose to study at UCL Laws because of the prestigious network of alumni and because of the Faculty’s fantastic world ranking! My favourite memory of my time there is the reception drinks hosted by the Dean of the Faculty. It was an amazing evening chatting with Sarah Campling - Director of Graduate Taught Programmes - and other members of the Faculty. It was a wonderful evening to be cherished forever!
How has studying at UCL Laws helped your career?
The exposure I received at UCL has helped me to be more fearless in making the choices I really want. I had pursued legal practices in courts across my country for three years before coming to London to pursue a Master’s degree. Now I am venturing into legal writing along with teaching students. I believe that the degree helped me realise that I am privileged to have received this opportunity and how I should help others with the knowledge and exposure UCL provided me.
Additionally, I always wanted to start a business but did not have the courage to do so. However, the talented students I met at UCL made me realise that life is too short for any regrets; and that failure is just a synonym to learn and grow better.
This law degree was great not just for fulfilling my intellectual curiosity; but was much needed to enhance the confidence and zeal to live my life on my own terms.
What have you gone on to do since graduating?
Since graduating, I have been working with a leading newspaper in my home country in India as a legal content producer. I also freelance as a Visiting Lecturer, teaching law subjects to students who want to clear national level exams. As a hobby I have also started my own handicrafts business and am involved in putting on exhibitions.
