Courses for international students

Our Centre prepares international students from all over the world for high-level academic study. We offer a range of courses specifically designed to prepare international students with the required English language level, academic skills and knowledge to succeed at a variety of different levels at a world-leading university. We also run a number of international summer schools and short courses to suit your language level, age, needs and aims.

Undergraduate Preparation Certificates international students in a lecture

Undergraduate Preparatory Certificates (International Foundation)

This course is for you if:

  • You want to study an undergraduate degree but your home qualifications are not accepted for direct entry to UCL
  • You are an academically strong student with excellent school grades and over the age of 16
Main UCL gates in the summer

Summer Courses

These courses are you for if:

  • you want to spend between two and six weeks in London during the summer
  • you want to combine academic study with a varied social activities programme
  • Different courses available to suit your age, language level, needs and aims
Part-time Academic English

Part-time Academic English Courses

This course is for you if:

  • You are a non-native English speaker wanting to improve your academic English skills on a part-time basis
  • You have an IELTS score of 6.0 or above
  • This course is open to anyone (UCL or non-UCL participants)
Pre-sessional English students and a teacher in a lecture theatre

UCL Pre-sessional English Courses

These courses are for you if:

  • You are planning to study a graduate or undergraduate degree but do not meet the English language requirement of your conditional offer
  • You want to improve your English language and academic skills
  • You want to study for 18, 12, 8 or 6 weeks
International Pre-Master's students in a seminar

International Pre-Master's

This course is for you if:

  • You are planning to study a graduate degree in the UK and would like to improve your English language and academic skills before you start
  • You want more time to prepare by studying on a longer course (between 6 and 9 months)

UCL Pre-Master’s Certificate in Architecture

This course is for you if:

  • You want to study a graduate degree at the UCL Bartlett School of Architecture but need to improve your English language, academic study and design skills
  • You have an overall IELTS score of 6.0
