Meet Simona from Bratislava, Slovakia who attended the Pre-University Online Course in 2025.
Where were you during the Pre-University Online Course?
I am from Bratislava, Slovakia.
One of the main differences between my school and the UCL course is that we do not have classes in English at home—we only speak Slovak. The UCL course was a unique opportunity to work in groups and discuss various topics with peers.
I am currently studying subjects oriented towards psychology.
Why did you choose the Pre-University Online Course?
I have always wanted to challenge myself, and the UCL Pre-University Online Course was a big challenge for me.
I chose UCL because it has always been one of my dream schools and one of the best universities in the world. I even contacted a student from a previous year, and they recommended this course.
Do you have any personal highlights from the course and why?
I really enjoyed the lectures on psychology topics. I learned many interesting things that I can use in my future studies.
We had a wonderful professor who shared useful information and gave insights into UK culture and university life.
Which skills have you developed during the course?
The course helped me become more confident in writing and conducting research. I had never done research before, so gaining knowledge in this area was a valuable experience.
What do you want to do once you’ve finished high school?
After high school, I would like to study in the UK or the USA. My main goals are UCL and NYU.
I want to become a therapist and later work in research.
What advice would you give to future Pre-University Online Course students?
I was excited to start the course and would recommend always communicating and asking questions.
I met some really special people, and it was inspiring to talk with many smart and talented peers.
