CLIE teaching staff nominated for Student Choice Awards
3 June 2019
Three UCL CLIE teachers were nominated in this year’s Student Choice Awards.
Angela Cooper (English for Academic Purposes), Alison Evans (English for Academic Purposes) and Jorge Barbero Lopez (French Language Modules) received nominations across three categories, in Excellent Personal Tutoring, Exceptional Feedback and Inspiring Teaching Delivery respectively.
The Student Choice Awards were launched by the Student Union in 2013 to celebrate the outstanding contributions that staff members make to the UCL learning experience.
This was the third consecutive year that Angela was nominated for an award and she was thrilled to be recognised once more.
Angela said: “I'm delighted to be nominated again, as this has been a very challenging year for me, juggling teaching, tutorials and hospital appointments for on-going cancer treatment.
As a tutor, you have to show empathy and understanding whilst remaining firm and professional. Sometimes students just need a ' virtual hug' , a shoulder to cry on as they are far from home. It is essential to build up a rapport with every student, so they confide in you and trust you.”
Congratulations to all three staff members for this great achievement!
