Isabel Perez Lamigueiro, CLIE's Spanish Language Tutor, received the excellent news last week that she had achieved Fellowship of the Higher Education Academic (FHEA). Many congratulations to Isabel on this significant achievement!
Isabel submitted her application via the UCL Arena Open Fellowship Scheme in late September, and had attended one of the 'Developing Your Application' sessions at Arena prior to submitting.
Reflecting on the application and recognition process, Isabel said: "It has been actually very interesting and I have learnt a lot about my own development as a teacher. Looking back on your practice you may not see your strengths so clearly as when you develop your case studies.
It is like looking back at your family photo album and
remembering: "Actually, I was good at skating", and all that knowledge comes
back to you and you know why you do it, and why you do it that way. You also
remember when you fall and how you coped with it.
Reading literature for the case studies enriches you and supports you, giving even more reasons for your particular practice, as well as enticing you into more exploring ... I warn you... it is very tempting... It takes time, you need to write and rewrite, but what you get back is the wonderful feeling of being back flying on your skates".
