Maximum principle and geometric applications

One of the main features that distinguishes linear, uniformly elliptic, 2nd order differential operators is the maximum principle. In this talk we are going to review this property from PDE theory and then apply it to geometric objects, where the associated PDE that describes them is non-linear.
