JRO launches CPD directory to support researchers and research staff with professional development
5 December 2025
The JRO has launched a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) directory designed to help researchers and research staff identify CPD activities relevant to them.
Download the resource as an Excel file.
The new resource, which aims to support career progression, acts as a repository of CPD courses and other opportunities aligned with the four pillars of good practice:
- clinical practice
- leadership
- education
- research
The comprehensive directory brings together training opportunities from a wide range of providers, including UCLH, UCL, the NIHR, the R&D Forum, the NHS Leadership Academy, the UK CRF Network, and others.
It features courses in areas such as:
- understanding research
- management of IMPs and biological samples
- people management
- research, audit and quality improvement
- research governance and ethics
- recruitment and informed consent
- information governance
- public involvement in research
- and many more.
Each course listing includes details of cost, duration, format (online/in-person), and provider, and courses are themed in line with the four pillars of good practice. The directory also lists local and national funding schemes for CPD activities that staff may be able to apply for.
The directory is for anyone who does research at UCLH or UCL, including non-clinical staff. It is designed for all career stages and may be particularly useful during appraisals.
The directory has been developed by Jingle Sanchez, Marivic Ricamara and Daron Bowrin from the JRO.
Jingle said: “We encourage all investigators and research staff at UCLH and UCL to access the directory. We have included a wide range of courses and course providers so that everyone should find something relevant to their area of practice or work.”
The team welcomes feedback on the directory. Please help improve the directory by reporting broken links or suggesting training and other resources via the CPD Directory feedback form.
Access the directory (downloads as an Excel file).
