Patient and public involvement bursaries now available

30 March 2021

Researchers can now apply for funding to carry out patient and public involvement (PPI) activities.

Four £500 starter grants are available to help researchers to get started with PPI.

One innovation grant worth up to £2000 is available for researchers planning a PPI activity that uses an innovative approach to PPI that will have a wider impact on the practice of PPI.

And two grants of up to £300 are specifically for PhD students to carry out PPI.

The deadline for applications is 12 April 2021.

Researchers and PhD students are eligible if they – or the lead researcher for their project – are based at UCL.

Applications are particularly invited from those who plan to involve groups who are currently under-represented in research.

Evidence of PPI in research is increasingly required by major funding bodies in the UK, and the BRC expects investigators wherever possible to actively involve patients and the public in their research.

PPI can lead to treatments that better meet the needs of users and the public, and research results that are more likely to be put into practice.
