Organisation Information Document no longer required for commercial study set up

24 November 2020

As of 12 November 2020, for commercially sponsored studies the Organisation Information Document (OID) is no longer required as part of the application process through IRAS.

The HRA has decided use of the document is unnecessary for commercial studies in the course of study review and set up by trial sites. Commercial studies use a commercial contract as the principal agreement between the sponsor and site.

The commercial OID was initially introduced across the UK with the implementation of the UK Local Information Pack in June 2019.

The non-commercial Organisation Information Document remains a required document for non-commercially sponsored studies – such as UCL sponsored studies.

More information from the HRA.
