Deadline approaching - nurse/midwife academics fellowship

The deadline is fast approaching to apply for a fellowship scheme for pre- and post-doctoral nurses and midwives pursuing a clinical academic career path.

NIHR CLAHRC (Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care) North Thames will deliver a fellowship scheme to increase levels of research activity within the nursing and midwifery workforce in North Central and East London. The scheme will provide opportunities for fellows to develop their career as a clinical academic and access support to develop an application for external funding to undertake further postgraduate study.

Eligible applicants must meet all of the criteria listed below:

  • be a first level registered nurse or midwife
  • hold a current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council 
  • provide written evidence of support from their Director of Nursing (or equivalent)
  • have a minimum of a 2:1 honours degree in nursing or higher level award
  • pre-doctoral students must have completed an MRes (or equivalent); those applying for a post-doctoral fellowship must have submitted their PhD thesis by the time of taking up the fellowship.
  • not be enrolled or engaged in another course or programme of study during the fellowship.

The deadline for applications is 5pm, Monday 15 December. Applicants are required to submit a letter of nomination from their local Director of Nursing (or equivalent). For more details visit the NIHR CLAHRC North Thames website.
