UCLH ranked for 70-day recruitment target

26 June 2013

University College London Hospitals (UCLH) has been ranked 14th out of all health care providers in terms of how well it meets the target of only 70-days between receiving  a valid research application and a trial recruiting its first patient.

After UCLH submitted its Performance in Initiating and Delivering Clinical Research (PID)  for quarter 4, the NIHR published a report comparing all NHS trusts holding NIHR funding contracts against the 70-day benchmark.

The NIHR report is made up of information from a group of NHS trusts holding NIHR funding contracts that have to provide data to on performance in initiating and delivering clinical research.

It covered commercial trials approved for NHS permission between 1 April 2012 and 31 March 2013. It revealed that UCLH is ranked 14th out of all providers; the median is 86 days across all sites, with UCLH slightly better at 71 calendar days.
