Approval streamlining project starts

The UCLP Harmonisation Project to streamline the approval process for commercially sponsored trials begins in October.
The project, which will be piloted between October 2012 and March 2013, is based on the idea of having a single review, costing and contract undertaken by one 'permission centre' on behalf of all sites within UCLP.
The permission centres will be based at UCLH, Barts Health and North Central London Research Consortium (NoCLoR). The proposal is for each permission centre to be responsible for approval of commercial studies within particular clinical areas.
The permission process for research in those clinical themes will be handled by a named contact working with specific research coordinators and the research specialty group lead.
