International Student Support

International Student Orientation Programme (ISOP) for Affiliate Students - January 2018

You are an 'affiliate student' if you are coming to UCL as a student on a Study Abroad (JYA), Erasmus, Independent Affiliate or other exchange programme.

The International Student Orientation Programme (ISOP) will take place on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 January 2018.

During ISOP you will have the opportunity to complete your in-person enrolment, attend the 'We Are All Global' talks designed specifically for our new international students (both EU and overseas), and participate in a variety of social events organised by Students' Union UCL. You will also have the opportunity to meet with your department(s) at UCL to discuss module selection.

How can I register for ISOP?

You will be able to register for ISOP and select an in-person enrolment appointment as part of the pre-enrolment process. On completion of pre-enrolment you will receive an email confirming your full ISOP schedule.

‘We Are All Global’ talks - Friday 5 January 2018 (morning)

This morning of interactive talks, called 'We Are All Global', are organised by the International Student Support team in order to make the transition into life in the UK and studying at UCL as smooth as possible. The sessions are free of charge and it is highly recommended that you attend.

Meet Your Department - Friday 5 January 2018 (afternoon)

You will have the opportunity to visit your admitting department on arrival and discuss module choices with your Affiliate Tutor and/or administrator. Departments usually organise these meetings in groups or one-to-one slots. Your department may get in touch with you if they have made alternative arrangements for your welcome session. Please ensure that you check your emails regularly and refer to the information on your department's website.

If you are taking modules in two or more departments, please attend the 'Meet Your Department' session for your main admitting department. You are also encouraged to get in contact with the other department(s) where you intend to take courses, by emailing the relevant Affiliate Tutor and discussing your options.

Please see our departmental contact list for Affiliate Tutor contact details and information on the 'Meet Your Department' session, which will be updated in due course. Please also visit our page on forming your programme of study for further information.

Enrolment (by appointment) - Saturday 6 January 2018

Enrolment will take place on Saturday 6 January 2018. You will be required to enrol by appointment at UCL and you will be able to select a slot nearer the time as part of the pre-enrolment process. For details of what you need to bring to your enrolment appointment, read our Enrolment section.

Social events organised by Students' Union UCL

ISOP social events, organised by Students' Union UCL, are the perfect opportunity to meet other new international students and immerse yourself into life at UCL. Social events are an optional part of ISOP, however we would encourage you to attend at least some of these events. A full list of events will be available nearer the time.

If you are staying in UCL-managed student accommodation you will be able to access your accommodation from Tuesday 2 January 2018. More information and Frequently Asked Questions can be found on the UCL Residences webpages.
