Police Registration

Some nationals are required to register with the police as part of the terms of their visa. For students joining in September, UCL are working with the Overseas Visitors Records Office (OVRO) and have made arrangements to facilitate this process. Please read the information below carefully to ensure you are abiding by the conditions of your visa.

UCL has made arrangements with OVRO for students starting in September 2017. Students who are required to register with the police should have received an email with details of how to book an appointment in October or November 2017 via Eventbrite. If you have not received this email and you believe you need to register, please contact International Student Support.

Students who book an appointment for police registration by this arrangement will NOT have to go to the Overseas Visitors Records Office (OVRO) within seven days of arrival in the UK and should instead attend at the date and time of their appointment.

Not registering with the police, if you are required to do so, is a criminal offence and you may be reported to the Home Office for failure to comply with the conditions of your leave to enter/remain in the United Kingdom.

Please visit our frequently asked questions page if you are unsure about any of the information.

Do I need to register with the police in the UK?
