Mike Granatt

Mike is a leading international practitioner in risk and crisis management and communication, with a unique breadth of experience in UK Government service and international consultancy.  

For more than 20 years, Mike was a top manager in the UK ministries responsible for energy, environment, regional government, security, policing, and counter-terrorism; and in London’s Metropolitan Police Service. 

Between 1998 and 2003 he served in the Cabinet Office as Director-General of the Government Information and Communication Service. During that time, Mike and Dr Jamie Macintosh proposed to the Prime Minister a new national resilience approach for safeguarding the UK.  As a result, he was appointed to found and lead the UK’s new national civil emergencies unit, the Civil Contingencies Secretariat.

Since retiring from the Civil Service in 2004, Mike has been a director of leading City of London consultancy, Luther Pendragon. He has clients among governments, corporations and NGOs in the UK, Middle East and South Asia.
