Student software for home use

Information about the software available to students off campus and on personal devices.

Desktop@UCL Anywhere

A lot of the software available on campus computers is also available remotely via Desktop@UCL Anywhere.

For information on this service and a list of the software available see Desktop@UCL Anywhere.

Personal devices

Anti-virus

UCL has agreements with F-Secure and Sophos to let registered students download virus protection for home use.

Download F-Secure or Sophos from the UCL's Software Database.

Microsoft 365

Current students are licensed to download and install Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise at no charge. The licence includes access to Microsoft 365 via your browser or Microsoft's desktop/mobile applications (on up to five compatible devices).

Download and install Microsoft 365 Apps.

Other software for home use

Software that is licensed for home use is available for you to download and install on your own devices.

A list of software available for home use can be found on UCL’s Software Database.

Before you download...

There are a couple of things you need to be aware of before you download any software:

Check the rights of use

Using software made available by UCL is subject to personal educational development, studying and academic research only. While home use is permitted under some of our agreements, this does not amount to a personal licence and software should be uninstalled when you leave UCL. By using this software you agree to these terms and conditions.

Check the software version

For both consistency and compatibility you should download the software version you use at UCL (not the latest version available).
