Information and tools

This page is primarily for support staff (DAs, Reps, IT Managers).
UPI is a unique identifier assigned to each person at UCL and stays with them for their duration of your time at UCL, even if their status changes. Once assigned, it is attached to all person records that are held in Corporate Support database systems.
UPI also refers to the database system that controls and manages the allocation of UPI codes and the distribution of person data between UCL systems. The Services System is a key component of UPI. It’s the tool that enables departments to record details of their visitors, allocate a UPI to them and then request UCL services for them, whether that’s an ID card, a computer account, library access or a phone line.

How to find the UPI for people in your department
The simplest way to lookup and find the UPI for a person currently at UCL is to log into the UCL Directory. Search for the person, then click the Login option on the search results page. The UPI will appear for each person in the search results list.
You can also point staff and students to the Find your UPI web page.
