Meet the Educational Media team.
The Educational Media team is led by Tony Slade and comprises of Media Content creators, Learning Technologists, Media Specialists and Support Officers who produce design, imagery, print and media production work specifically (but not wholly) for learning and teaching, We manage UCL's media applications, Eventbrite, Imagestore, Lecturecast, Mediacentral, Mediapod, MediaLoans, UCL Podcasting and Video Collaboration. Tony Slade Head of Educational Media | Initially working in the Culture and Museums sector in London, Tony moved into the world of Advertising for 20+ years working across London and the South East. Joined UCL in 2004, eventually unifying a number of different creative teams and services into the Educational Media team. He is the Product Owner for Media Environments, and the Service Owner for Video Collaboration, Media Production & Eventbrite. Outside of work, Tony is an avid sports fan and a season ticket holder at his beloved Nottingham Forest FC. | |
Patrick Robinson Media Production Manager | Working within UCL for over 25 years and also within research and education for longer, this has given me an appetite for knowledge, and I hope a wider understanding. In short, I will always be trying to learn more and trying to understand as much as I can. My training within laboratory science and my role within digital education, are two disciplines which now collaborate under the umbrella of the research and knowledge-based environment known as UCL. I will try my best to advice and support within the department. | |
Abdulmukith Ahmed Media Producer | Abdulmukith has been working in higher education for over 20 years, initially working as an Audio-Visual technician at Middlesex University before moving to Institute of Education in 2003 to take up the role of Media Technician. At the moment he is working as Education Media Producer within the Education Media team. | |

Teresa Baker Media Producer | Teresa’s area of specialism is audio and video. After completing a Multimedia degree in 2004, she supported teaching in the Media Dept of a sixth form college, before joining the IOE as a Media Technician in 2007. She has experience in 1st line customer support through running an AV equipment library, advising staff and students in the use of audio-visual equipment, and has a focus on video production, editing and broadcast in a live event environment. | |

Diana Ursu Live Events Media Producer | Diana joined the Educational Media team after one year in an Administrative role at the Institute of Child Health. She comes with an international background in Video Production from various roles she undertook. During her career so far she helped produce over 50 different and complex projects including music videos, TV Advertising and TV series. In more recent years Diana got to work in streaming services and educational content, all this leading to her now joining the team as our Live Events Media Producer and being in charge with delivering live content via various mediums. | |
Ash Johnson Media Support Officer - Media Production | Ash joined the Educational Media team in 2022, after a 3 month temporary role in the Accommodation department while he completed his Masters in Editing & Post Production. Specialising in editing, he also utilises other technical skills picked up during his Bachelors in Film & TV and ensuing work experience to produce promotional videos, instructional videos, and livestream events. | |

Paulina Todorova Media & Learning Technologist | As Media and Learning Technologist, Paulina provides Lecturecast & MediaCentral support and training for staff & students. She regularly engages in testing new features and changes to UCL's media applications alongside the development team. | |

Tess Andaya Print Production | Tess joined the UCL team in 2012 from the School of Pharmacy and has been helping staff and students both sites produce high quality posters showcasing their work for over 11 years. She now runs the Large Format Print Service based in the Cruciform Building and helps support the administrative functions of Educational Media. | |
Mary Hinkley Digital Imaging and Archivist | Mary joined UCL as a Photographer in 1989. Throughout her UCL career she has taken a wide variety of imagery for almost all UCL departments, and undertakes staff and student portraiture, departmental group photographs, and pictures of departments at work. Mary specialises in taking images of objects, archaeological artefacts, artwork, books and documents, whilst also taking photographs for departmental websites and promotional content. Mary is responsible for adding and maintaining the public and private content on UCL Imagestore, adding metadata to files so that they can found more easily. If you need a specific image but cannot find it on Imagestore Mary may be able to help, especially as the department holds an archive of historical digital imagery along with traditional negatives. In her role as an archivist Mary also can scan and provide digital files for both promotion and research use. | |
Rakhee Bashar Lead Graphic Designer | Rakhee joined UCL Educational Media in 2021, prior to that she worked for UCL Health Creatives providing graphic and digital design, and print management for UCL, partner organisations, as well as external health and medical associations for over 18 years. Her core skills include designing brochures, posters, flyers, packaging, infographics, graphs and animations for both print and digital media. She has a strong passion for design, with an emphasis on typography, colour and illustration. | |
David Smithson Lead Graphic Designer | David joined UCL Educational Media in 2021, prior to that he worked for UCL Health Creatives at Great Ormond Street Hospital providing graphic and digital design, and print management for UCL, NHS partner organisations, as well as external health, science and medical institutions for over 25 years. His core skills include illustration, infographics, brochure design, posters, and flyers for both print and digital media. He has a strong passion for illustration (mainly schematic and informatic) and infographic design (backed with a degree in Graphic Information Design). |
