The Digital Education VLE team is led by Jason Norton. They are responsible for managing the Moodle Virtual Learning Environment, and integrations with other services.
![]() | Jason Norton Head of Digital Education VLE | Jason joined UCL in 2004 and joined the precursor Digital Education team in 2008. Jason is the Digital Education Services Manager responsible for the core digital education systems/service Moodle. He manages the Digital Education Core service team that provides centrally provisioned second line application and pedagogic support for our tools and practice. Jason is an Alumni of UCL having studied as a part time student for a master’s degree in Digital Anthropology from 2012-14. His primary focus is ensuring that the services within his area provide functional and practical value to all areas of UCL’s varied academic practice, while still maintaining a core set of tools that can be used generally across the institution. |
![]() | Eliot Hoving Senior Learning Technologist | Eliot joined the Digital Education Services team in October 2018. He supports a range of learning technologies with a focus on e-assessment including digital marking workflows, digital rubrics, peer review, and Turnitin. He enjoys working with teachers to utilise technologies for creating engaging learning experiences, facilitating dialogue towards collective learning, and sparking self and peer reflection.

![]() | Kerry Vandersteen Learning Technologist | Kerry joined the Digital Education VLE Team in March 2023. Over the years, Kerry has worked on a wide range of learning technology projects and training events in Further, Higher, Professional and Medical Education. Most recently, she specialized in technology to support inclusive education and accessibility at the LSE. At City and Islington College, she supported lecturers with online teaching and assessment, and worked on numerous digital innovation projects in partnership with staff digital leaders. In addition, she introduced Google Classroom and ran a successful Student Digital Ambassador Programme. Kerry is also an experienced English teacher and online tutor. She enjoys finding creative ways to engage and motivate learners as well as supporting and inspiring others in their teaching practice. She is interested in current developments in digital learning environments such as the potential of learner analytics and AI to support student progress and improve efficiency, productivity and wellbeing. Kerry is looking forward to working with such a talented, professional team at UCL!

Nadia Hussain Learning Technologist | Nadia joined UCL as a Learning Technologist in September 2022. She supports wider assessments with a focus on digital product areas such as Moodle VLE, Turnitin, Wiseflow, etc. Before coming to UCL, Nadia held a similar post at Imperial College London involved in administrating and testing online learning platforms as well as providing training to academics in the use of digital learning technologies. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Brunel University. |
