Meet the Digital Education Support team.

The Digital Education Support Team led by Anisa Patel provides cross-functional support across all Digital Education Products.

Anisa Patel

Anisa Patel

Head of Digital Education Support

(Maternity leave)

 

 

Anisa joined UCL in 2019, where she has worked as the Digital Education Services Specialist, Head of Digital Assessment and currently leads the Digital Education Support Team. Her current role is to lead a cross-functional team which supports multiple products across the Digital Education Department, as well as working closely with the faculty learning technology leads.

In her previous positions, she worked at QMUL(Queen Mary University of London) in multiple learning technology positions with a focus on support, teaching and specialism in core digital technologies (VLE, Lecture Capture, Assessment) and has also taught on the Postgraduate Certificate Academic Practice (PGCAP) programmes, F2F and Distance learning modules. She previously worked as the Head of Digital Assessment to lead a new team to encourage the adoption of digital assessment at UCL, including the use of a new assessment platform, Wiseflow. She holds a PGCE in Education, Masters in Science, CMALT and has a good understanding of Agile ways of working and practices.

Zaman has been working in various departments of ISD since 2008, joining the Digital Education Services team in 2012 to provide E-Learning training and support.

Digital Education Support Analyst

Pauline joined UCL in 2012, becoming a member of the Digital Education team in December 2021. With a keen interest in supporting technologies that facilitate and enhance learning, Pauline provides support of Digital Education core services such as Moodle, Lecturecast and Turnitin.

Tom Walters

Digital Education Support Analyst

Tom has been working for ISD since February 2017 when he was a UCL History student, joining on a permanent basis in April 2021. He moved to the Digital Education team in January 2022 and enjoys fixing problems, with a strong focus on improving staff and students' online experience at UCL.

Irina Niculescu

Senior Learning Technologist

Head of Digital Education Support

Irina joined UCL in May 2023 as a senior learning technologist with a focus on training and staff development. Empowering others to take advantage of the transformative potential of technologies and digital practices is central to her work. She enjoys collaborating with academics to provide consultancy for the pedagogy of learning design within blended and online contexts. She has been working in Higher Education since 2015. 

In her previous role, at University of Surrey, she managed a team of learning designers, led staff development programmes, digital education projects and student-staff partnerships. Also, she has taught on an MA in Education and Learning and Teaching PG Cert programmes. 

Irina is currently exploring and training in approaches to systemic modelling of change. She is particularly interested in the human and social aspects of digital practices.

Christina Galliou

Christina Ioanna Galliou

Senior Learning Technologist

Christina holds a Master of Education and Technology from UCL and is a published author in accessible design bringing a wealth of expertise in Learning Technologies and E-Learning. Prior to joining UCL at 2023 she was a Learning Technologist at London Business School and before that an E-Learning Content Developer at King's College London. Within UCL, Christina supports a range of learning technologies, collaborates cross-functionally with the teams in digital education, focuses on staff development and training, and provides another line of support for learning technologists at UCL.
Claudia Cox

Claudia Cox

Senior Learning Technologist

Claudia joined UCL as a Digital Assessment Advisor in July 2023 and supports digital assessment across Maths and Physical Sciences, Population Health and Life Sciences, as well as providing STEM support in Assessment Futures. 

Previously, Claudia was a Learning Technologist at Imperial College London offering support and training in a range of digital learning technologies and assisting the launch of a fully online Masters programme. Before that, she was also a key figure in the success of Digital Assessment @Brunel, a major project to digitise the majority of assessment and exams at Brunel University London.

Claudia received a BA in Games Design with Creative Writing from Brunel University London and is a serial hobbyist, with interests in everything from weight lifting to insect taxidermy.

Amanda Seller

Amanda Seller

Digital Assessment Advisor

Amanda works as a Digital Assessment Advisor encouraging and supporting digital assessment across UCL. Prior to joining the team in February 2023, Amanda worked at the UCL Institute of Education where she supported programmes to innovate and make the best use of digital resources. Amanda comes from a background across education sectors having started out as an EFL (English as a Foreign Language) Tutor.

Meg Jones

Learning Technologist

Meg began her career in Higher Education in 2021 as a Postgraduate Officer at St George’s University, where she served as the first point of contact for a wide range of queries, including those related to the VLE. Her enjoyment of the digital aspects of this role led her to pursue a career in digital education.

She went on to work as a Learning Technologist at Queen Mary University of London for three years before joining UCL in 2025.

At UCL, Meg’s work focuses primarily on digital assessment platforms. She has a strong interest in usability, with a particular focus on reducing cognitive load and streamlining digital processes to enhance the user experience.
