New Eduroam public certificate introduced on 11 May 2026
7 May 2026
A new Eduroam public certificate was introduced at 5:45pm on 11 May 2026.
Following the introduction of the new Eduroam Certificate, you may experience difficulty accessing Eduroam. If you do, please follow the support steps provided here.
If you have previously connected to eduroam manually by selecting it from the list of available networks then the next time you connect, you may see a message informing you that the certificate has changed and will be prompted to accept the new certificate.
The certificate message will vary according to your operating system:
- On macOS a window will display the new certificate details and you need to click ‘Trust’.
- On Windows a message will display in the WiFi list next to eduroam asking if you expect to see eduroam in this location and you need to click connect, please check that the certificate is issued by 'Sectigo multidomain OV'.
If the certificate isn't presented, or your device doesn't join the network, "Forget" the network on your device (the process depends on the device and operating system) and then attempt to reconnect. You will be asked to enter your username and password (make sure you use the format ucxy123@ucl.ac.uk) and depending on the device you will be asked if you expect to see eduroam at this location (Windows). Press connect and you should be able to access the network again. Further support information is available at eduroam connection page.
If you are using a Desktop@UCL machine or have connected using the eduroam CAT tool you will not need to take any action.
If you continue to have problems, please contact the IT Service Desk.
