What’s new from ISD’s Digital Portfolio teams this term?
25 February 2025
From smarter lecture capture to improved accessibility, ISD’s Digital Portfolio teams are working behind the scenes to enhance the digital experiences of our staff and students.

Termly Increment (TI) Planning enables ISD to focus on the most impactful improvements to deliver to UCL over the next three months.
Running across two days every term, the event brings together Digital Portfolio teams and key business stakeholders to review priorities, refine roadmaps, and ensure our digital services continue to support research, teaching and learning effectively.
Our latest session, which took place on 15-16 January, set the direction for an exciting term ahead. Here are five key improvements you can look forward to from our teams in the coming months:
A streamlined signing and completion process for research contracts
This term we are introducing a new standardised signing and completion process to speed up approvals and reduce delays. This will help cut down on aged contracts, improve financial oversight and ensure UCL continues to support top-tier research.
Improving the lecture scheduling process with a new tool
We are developing a new video recording tool through Panopto to help ensure that lectures are captured accurately and reliably – contributing to a better teaching experience for both staff and students.
Advancing UCL’s digital brand experience
We are supporting preparations for UCL’s refreshed brand by launching a new Brand and Experience website alongside a CMS Best Practice site on the Drupal 10 platform. The new sites will work to assist staff in producing accessible, consistent and on-brand products.
Enhancing accessibility with Mobile Connect in key meeting spaces
Accessibility remains a top priority for ISD, and this term we are installing Mobile Connect in five key meeting spaces to support users with hearing accessibility and neurodiverse needs.
Transforming the student enquiries experience
Getting the right support at the right time is essential for students. This term, we’re taking steps to improve how enquiries are managed at UCL by beginning the process of replacing askUCL/SID with a more modern, efficient solution.
We’ve summarised five key highlights here, but our teams are delivering many more enhancements this term. For a deeper dive into what’s in store, check out our Highlight Plan for Term 2 2024/25 [ppt].
