Wiki decommissioning 16 December 2024 - we need your help
20 November 2024
We are working towards turning off access to the current internal wiki on 16 December 2024.
So far we have:
- Emailed 278 internal space owners asking what needs to be done with their wiki space
- Updated the banner on the wiki to capture any sites we haven’t got a current contact for to identify active content / spaces
- identified a provisional action for very space – to Delete / Export content / Include in Transition Planning / Review Content.
- formed a UCL wide working group to capture user cases for a wiki solution and provided recommendation to leadership.
- begun migration of content to SharePoint
- contacted all space owners marked as “Review Content”.
- contacted all personal space owners to ask for a decision by 15 November.
Next steps:
We have been contacting the space creator and person who last edited the site. This, along with the banner on the wiki with the relevant information, we hope to have captured all active sites.
Wiki content will not be deleted, and the database will remain for a period after 16 December to recover content if required but it will no longer be accessible.
For spaces where SharePoint is not the correct solution we need to understand how many spaces are in this category and confirm if we can move to the interim solution (licence cost dependant).
Not sure if a space is marked to be included in transition planning?
- Check the excel file with all the Internal spaces - Wiki-Internal-space-information.xlsx
- Filter by name or by Space name
- Check under the Action column (H), what will happen with the space
- Is the action correct? Then shortly we will come back to you with the next steps.
- Is the action incorrect? Send a request to wiki.feedback@ucl.ac.uk so we can update it
