Drupal CMS: Anchors

Learn to create an anchor in Drupal.

Before you start

When editing use Chrome, Firefox or Safari but NOT Internet Explorer

Instructions

Anchors are created to allow the user to 'jump' to a place further down a page thus limiting the scrolling they would otherwise have to do.

Note: Anchor links only work in the same body of content, you cannot add an anchor link to another body of content. For example from the main body content to the footer content.

Creating an anchor is a 2-step process:

Step 1 - drop the anchor

  1. Go to the place where you want the user to end up i.e. above the text where you want to user to start reading
  2. Click on the anchor icon - it looks like a flag.
  3. Type in a short, but relevant name
  4. Click on OK

Step 2 - link the anchor

  1. Go to the place where you want users to jump from
  2. Highlight the relevant text
  3. Click on the hyperlink icon
  4. Ensure the Link Type says 'link to anchor in the text'
  5. Choose the relevant text you chose for the 'dropped' anchor
  6. Click on OK
